Nashville community outreach groups are partnering with local ministries to set up food box delivery for encampments. We would like to ensure that people in encampments can practice the Safer at Home instruction and remain in their encampment as much as possible. In addition, a few meal programs had to reduce their efforts because they relied heavily on elderly volunteers. This effort is supplementing (not replacing!) existing programs, and focuses on filling unmet needs. Our goal is to assist people outside of the shelter system and in those settings where it is hard to practice social distancing.
Thank you to Open Table Nashville, The Bridge Ministry, Mental Health Cooperative, Park Center, The Salvation Army, Neighborhood Health, and the Metro Homeless Impact Division. We are sure we are leaving out additional partners, which will be joining the effort we are building right now.
To be able to sustain the effort, we are asking for food donations. Items can be dropped off at Glencliff United Methodist Church, 2901 Glencliff Road, Monday through Thursday from 9am to noon.
Please consider donating large amounts of the following items.
